The season comes to a close !

It was ‘cup final’ weekend for 3 of our teams as Vikings pushed for silverware.

First up our Ladies C team faced Ramsey B on Friday evening (24th) in the Ladies Bowl, and despite a great effort slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat, it was a great performance from our Ladies C with some encouraging individual displays from many of our up and coming younger players.

Saturday (25th) brought two cup matches with the Vikings C Mens team facing up against Bacchas Mens C, a tight affair for the first hour of the match with Vikings being pegged back by Bacchas after taking the lead , for Vikings to then score straight form the restart, and Bacchas hitting back again.
It looked like the game may be heading to flicks but a tremendous final 10 minutes saw Vikings get two quick goals to win the match.
A great brace of goals from James Baker and a Player of the Match performance from Theo Robertson, who have both stepped up to the senior league competitions this year and shown great maturity and composure throughout the season.

Finally our Mens A faced up to old rivals Bacchas Mens A in the cup final, a high tempo and high scoring event with Vikings finding themselves 2-0 down at half time and then clawing it back to 2-2.
Bacchas sneaked ahead again but Vikings weren’t to be undone and managed an equaliser near the end of the match to take the game to penalty flicks.
Unfortunately luck was not with Vikings and then went down to a very narrow 6-5 defeat on flicks but can be proud of their valiant performance !

So the senior mens/ladies season ends with only the Bowl cup competition as silverware for this season but Vikings will be looking to come back stronger next season, but great credit should be given to many of our younger players who pushed themselves this year with many of them stepping up a division and doing themselves proud with their performances throughout the season.
