Saturday Update – 28th October 2023

Another weekend of hockey but only for 4 of our Mixed teams, as the U15s had a break due to half-term and our A team have a top of the table clash with Valkyrs A on Tuesday 31st after training !

In the Mixed Premier, the B team came away with their second win of the season and their first clean sheet playing Harlequins A.
Although a comfortable 3-0 victory, it felt like there were chances for an even greater scoreline!
All round great play from the team but a man of the match performance by hat trick hero Alex Andrew.

Apart from getting sent down to 10 men twice the C team played very well against rivals Bacchas C.
They definitely didn’t deserve the loss but Bacchas fought strong all the way and managed to sneak a single goal but the C team didn’t let them have anything else

The Mixed D team all but guaranteed winning Mixed Division 2 after a comfortable 5-0 defeat of Castletown Cushags.
The D team got off to a flying start with a goal scored in almost the first minute of the game, with great build up play from Jacques Wasserfall finished expertly into the corner by Andy Harding. 3 more goals were added in the first half, another from Andy Harding, one from Kiara Masterson and the pick of the bunch from Ash Osbourne deflecting a hit into the D from Jacques into the roof of the net past the despairing Castletown keeper. Some great passing and movement from the entire team with only a single goal from Kiara added in the second half due to some desperate defending and good goalkeeping from Cushags.

Finally our Mixed E team picked up their first win of the season against Ramsey Ravens.
The E team played some of their best hockey of the season, working well as a team and catching Ramsey out with some quick movement up the pitch leading to Jacob Harding finishing well against the Ramsey keeper. Ramsey came back strong and after a scrap at the top of the Vikings D a flicked shot from Ramsey brought the scores level. Vikings pushed again and some great interchange between the young players on the team led to a breakaway for Vikings with a goal of the season contender from Jacob Harding, hammering the ball into the far left corner of the net.
Vikings then added a third after good work down the wing from Errol Syme, and even though Ramsey pushed the E team hard in the second half the defence held strong to come away with a valuable 2 points.

Only a few weeks of the mixed season left Vikings !
This upcoming weekend is the next round of the Cup/Plate/Bowl Competition.
